Tillo and One Little Step

[Verse 1 — Tillo] Toby saw a tree up high, Underneath the sunny sky. Little feet upon the ground, Off he went without a bound. Hoppy hurried far ahead, “Take your time,” kind Tillo said. Toby smiled and went his way, One small step could start his day.

[Chorus — Tillo and children] One little step, then one step more, Look how far you’ve come before! Slow or fast, it’s okay, You can go your own sweet way. Step, step, one, two, three, Take a little walk with me. Try again when you feel strong, At your pace, come along!

[Verse 2 — Tillo] When a puddle blocked the track, Toby didn’t hurry back. With his friend, he looked around, Found a little patch of ground. When his feet were tired too, Tillo knew just what to do. “Have a rest beneath the sky, Then, when ready, you can try.”

[Chorus — Tillo and children] One little step, then one step more, Look how far you’ve come before! Slow or fast, it’s okay, You can go your own sweet way. Step, step, one, two, three, Take a little walk with me. Try again when you feel strong, At your pace, come along!

[Call and response] Tillo: Can we rest along the way? Children: Yes, we can! That’s okay! Tillo: Can we ask a friend to stay? Children: Yes! Let’s help along the way! Tillo: Ready for another try? Children: One more step beneath the sky!

[Verse 3 — Tillo] At the tree, the friends sat down, Looking at the flowers around. Toby whispered, “Now I see, Little steps were right for me.” Learning something new takes time, Like a hill we want to climb. With a rest and helping hand, We can try the things we’ve planned.

[Final chorus — everyone] One little step, then one step more, You’ve done things you couldn’t before! Slow or fast, it’s okay, You can go your own sweet way. Step, step, one, two, three, You can try along with me. Little steps will move us on, Let’s keep singing our step song!

[Soft ending — Tillo] Take your time, there’s room to grow… One little step… and off we go.
